Sponsor a cat pen for £5 a month

There are many cats that have not had the best start in life who are desperately looking for their forever homes. All our animals have their own unique personality and story which make them special to us and hopefully to you.

Though there are many places you can find cats or kittens for sale, we recommend giving a rescue cat or kitten a second chance at the happy life they so deserve. All our cats are microchipped, vaccinated and neutered (where possible) before adoption.

At present our branch is only rehoming cats. If you are looking to rehome other types of animal, please contact another RSPCA Branch or search the Find a Pet page on the national website.

1. Find an animal available for adoption

Head on over to our Find A Pet service. Here you can filter your search by location, age and gender as well as other characteristics such as whether they can live with other animals or children.

If you have found an animal for adoption from the London East branch or you want to specifically adopt an animal from the London East area then continue to step 2.

2. Complete our application form

Your form will be reviewed by a volunteer and they will be in touch if they require further information.

3. Virtual Home Visit

If you're a match, our team will be in contact to organise a virtual home visit which will be held via video call. This will allow us to discuss certain elements of your form, do a video tour, talk about cat care and discuss the cat you'd like to adopt.

4. Approval and Agreement

If your home visit is approved, we will either begin the process for adopting your chosen cat or we will discuss our current cats available for rehoming.

If adopting, we would send you an adoption agreement and a medical summary form to be completed; a cat pre-adoption booklet for you to read; and the cat's vet history.

5. Adoption Fee

At this point we will request that the adoption fee of £100 per cat be transferred to us via bank transfer. We cannot accept cash or cheque under our revised process.

6. Delivery and Handover

A date and time will then be arranged for you to collect the cat from our boarding facility. Once you're home, we register the cat's microchip to you.

We ask all our adopters to keep us posted and to always come back to us if you have any questions.

ADVICE AND SUPPORT

Remember that we are still here for any questions or support that you need. Further guidance is available for cats and dogs on the RSPCA national website.

Your new pet will have been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped by us (unless they are too young) - so there's a few less things to worry about. Nevertheless, many pet owners have similar general pet care queries. Things like tackling fleas and worms, keeping animals calm on firework night, or wondering what to look for when insuring your pet.
