Merger between the Essex Havering & Harold Hill Branch and the London East Branch
We are very pleased to announce that a merger between the RSPCA Essex Havering & Harold Hill Branch and the RSPCA London East Branch has been finalised and your local RSPCA branch is now known as the ‘RSPCA East London and Havering Branch’.
The RSPCA Board of Trustees approved the request to merge the two branches, to take effect from 12 December 2023.
In technical terms, the RSPCA Essex Havering & Harold Hill Branch has been dissolved by the Charity Commission and its assets are to be transferred to the expanded the London East Branch, which has been renamed to reflect the new branch area. The new branch area includes all the areas previously covered by the RSPCA Essex Havering & Harold Hill Branch and the areas that were covered by the RSPCA London East Branch. We are in an advanced stage of this asset transfer process.
Former members of the RSPCA Essex Havering & Harold Hill Branch have had their membership transferred to the RSPCA East London and Havering Branch, and continuity of membership will be preserved. There are no changes for the existing London East branch members and all members will continue to be invited to the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the merged branch each year, and receive updates about the branch.
We will continue to work closely with local inspectors and provide care and rehoming services for cats in our expanded catchment area, as well as supporting the public with animal welfare inquiries and local food banks. We will also aim to start recruiting volunteers in our neighbourhood to expand our capacity to do more activities locally, such as fundraising and education. We are grateful for your membership, which underpins all our branch activities.
