The RSPCA operates a branch charity structure, we deliver most of the direct animal welfare and rehoming work for the Society. We are a separately registered charity in the East London and Havering area (charity number 285472 as of April 30, 2024) that supports the animal welfare work in the neighbourhood of Newham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Essex, Harold Hill and Havering.Â
Self-funded and deeply committed, we raise essential funds in our local area to support a range of vital services. At the heart of our operation, we offer valuable advice, microchipping, neutering, and animal treatments, ensuring the well-being of our furry friends who come to us for help. But our mission doesn't stop there. We're dedicated to rehabilitating and rehoming animals in need, providing them with a fresh start and a loving forever home. We collaborate closely with RSPCA's Inspectorate, intervening on behalf of mistreated and abandoned animals, even those whose owners are unable to care for them.
As part of the RSPCA network, we're here to educate and inform the public, empowering them to make a positive impact on animal welfare in our communities. Together, we're reducing the incidence of abandonment and cruelty, making our world a better place for every four-legged companion. Join us in this noble journey of compassion and change.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) was founded in 1824. The group of people present wanted to make a world that was kinder to animals and the charity we all know and love today was born.
The SPCA, before gaining our royal 'R' in 1840 from Queen Victoria has worked on the front-line with animals for nearly 200 years. We have worked with animals down in the coal mines, animals on the front-line in first and second world wars, farming animals, animals in the circus, animals used in fighting rings and hunts, and in more recent years, with our wonderful pets.
We are not only cared for the animals in our country, but supported other charities, lobbied the government time and time again, improved the nations relationship with our animals, developed and improved farming practices, pushed for eliminate and reduction of animal testing, and today, we continue to grow our Generation Kind alongside our ever growing animal welfare work.
It's our vision to live in a world where all animals are respected and treated with compassion. Click here for 24 ways we've made a difference for animals over the last 199 years !
